Biography
He was born on August 15, 1970, in Los Angeles, California, USA.
His mother, Dora, was a movie extra, while his father, Sterling Bowman, owned women’s clothing stores.
”It was a clothing store for plus-size women,” Anderson told Elle. ”I learned never to say, ‘That’s too tight.’ If she puts it on and feels good about herself, then it’s for her.”
He grew up in Los Angeles.
”My beaches growing up were Hermosa and Manhattan Beach,” Anthony confessed for Visit California. He added: ”I remember getting on the bus, skipping school with a bunch of kids, and riding out to the beach.”
He discovered his passion for acting via his mother.
”I wanted to be a lawyer and eventually a judge; and also an actor,” Anderson said in an interview with LA Times in March 2019. ”At age 9, I realized if I became an actor, I could be all three of those things.”
In 1988, Anderson graduated from Hollywood High School Performing Arts Center.
He went to Howard University but dropped out. Anthony later said about his decision to drop out of college: ”I was paying for college myself, and I ran out of money after my Junior year.”
